Hong Kong has been named the world's freest economy in 2008 by the Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal. (http://www.heritage.org/research/features/index/country.cfm?id=HongKong)
The Index of Economic Freedom is calculated based on a wide range of criteria, including the freedom of business, trade, fiscal matters, government, monetary policies and labor, and the protection of property rights. Scoring a remarkable 90.3% out of 100, Hong Kong is also ranked the first out of 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific region due to its competitive income and corporate tax rates, simple and efficient business licensing and registration, highly competitive investment initiatives and incentives, in addition to a corruption-free judiciary.
The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has been voted the world's best airport for the sixth time in seven years in the annual Skytrax survey, in which a total of 7.8 million passengers from all around the world have cast their votes from August 2006 to July 2007. The survey encompassed ratings of 40 aspects of product and service quality, including terminal cleanliness, staff efficiency and courtesy, airport accessibility, shopping and dining options, Internet services, as well as security processing and immigration waiting times. http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/pr/pr_899.html
