- Four symposia covering a wide variety of topics. Co-sponsoring societies include the Asian-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS - Lids), the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS - Lacrimal System), the Pan-American Oculoplastic Society (Plastic Surgery) as well as the Oculoplastic Association of India (OPAI - Socket Surgery and Conjunctiva).
- One panel discussion on 'Ocular Adnexal Tumours' including discussions on basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and malignant melanoma.
- One instruction course in 'Orbit', covering topics like multiplanar orbital surgery, thyroid decompression surgery, orbital neurofibromatosis, aesthetic rehabilitation of Grave’s ophthalmopathy, porous polyethylene-titanium implants in orbital fractures, lymphomas of the orbit and surgical reconstruction in anophthalmic sockets.

- 14 symposia covering a variety of topics. Audiences will be provided with the latest information on the technology, diagnosis and management of refractive surgical cases and insights into new treatment options. Five of these will be co-sponsored by the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS/AAO), Asia Pacific Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (APACRS), Keratomileusis Study Group (KMSG) and Asociación Latina de Catarata Refractiva y Segmento Anterior (ALCRS)
- Six instruction courses covering the areas of post Refractive Surgery IOL power calculation, management of refractive surgery complications, surface ablation, preventing and treating post-LASIK ectasia, correcting irregular cornea with excimer laser.

There will be three sessions in Scleral disease (List of Chairs of Scientific Sessions).

- A symposium which will cover the aetiology, diagnosis and management of the various forms of scleral inflammation.

- An instruction course covering the observations and investigations needed to make the correct diagnosis and to give the most appropriate therapy.

- A panel session in which there will be the opportunity to discuss with the experts on how to manage the severe forms of necrotizing and posterior scleritis which can so easily blind the patient.

II. Call for Abstracts

Online abstract submission is now opened! We invite abstract submissions for the following categories:

Free Paper (Oral) Presentation:
Presenters will be given 7 minutes to present their research findings and 2 minutes for discussion.

Poster Presentation:
Presenters are also encouraged to submit their work as Poster, which enables direct exchange of ideas between the presenter and delegates.

Scientific Video Presentation:
Medical illustrations with audio-visual elements can be submitted for Scientific Video Presentation of no more than 10 minutes in duration.

Online Submission Dates and Deadlines
Abstracts must be submitted online via the WOC 2008 website. Abstracts submitted by other means such as letter, email or fax will not be considered.
